What this covers

Coat hooks, console tables, shoe cabinets, mail organisers and bench seating. Hook heights against what hangs from them, console depths against hallway width, cabinet depths against the shoes they have to hold.

How we work

• Specifications come from manufacturer listings, manuals and spec sheets — not from marketing copy or from another site’s summary.
• Every figure on the page is traceable to a source we link. Where two sources disagree, the guide says so rather than picking the flattering one.
• Products are compared on the dimension the question is about. A guide about depth ranks on depth, not on how heavy something is to ship.
• Nothing is recommended that we could not measure against the space it has to fit. Where a number does not exist, the guide says that instead of estimating one.
